2012 Golden Heart Survey: What are your plans?

What are your plans for the 2012 Golden Heart contest for unpublished romance manuscripts? Many members of our Ruby-Slippered Sister community are ineligible this year (congratulations to you — and you can still take the survey), but I know I’m not the only one still hunting for that book deal. So spill the beans!

Click here to take the anonymous survey

On Tuesday, 09/20, come back to the RSS blog and I’ll reveal what, if any, trends we can spot.

Now that you’ve taken the survey, what are your thoughts on it — or the Golden Heart contest in general? Do you think any categories will be added, deleted, or merged? Any predictions on which categories will receive the most entries?

Pardon yet another interruption, Dear Readers, but here’s some more trivia about the Rubies that just might come in handy during our Birthday Bash on September 21! (Did someone say PRIZES??? ….Hmmm, we’ll never tell!!)

Shea Berkley is a kickboxer who trains with some serious MMA dudes.

2 Rubies are barrel racers

Katie Graykowski was deported from the Bahamas.

Gwyn MacKenzie had her own Professional Make-Up Artist and Dress Advisor business.

Vanessa Barneveld and a couple of friends hung out with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the band’s hotel room.

Jamie Michele met Fabio when she was 15.

2011 Golden Heart Survey Results!

Last Friday, I posted a link to a survey to gauge reader intentions for the 2011 Golden Heart contest for unpublished romance manuscripts. 29 individuals completed the survey. 25 respondents were from the US, 2 from Canada, 1 from Australia, and 1 from the United Kingdom.

The survey branched to different questions depending on each respondent’s individual answers, so I hope this report makes sense. It’s kind of like reading a “Choose Your Own Adventure” book from start to finish.

At any rate, here are the results.

The mystique of the Golden Heart

On Sept 21st, the Golden Heart contest opened. Not until Mar 25th will you learn if your entry finaled. No other contest leaves you wondering for so long, or gives quite the thrill when you get the magic phone call.

To Risk or Not to Risk

You know that East German judge that was mentioned on here a few days ago?  Well, I’ve had that judge NUMEROUS times!  Me and her…we just don’t see eye to eye.  After recently not making it to the final round in a local contest, I mentioned to a friend that it didn’t exactly shock me.  I routinely receive scores in the vein of a 100 and a 45 in the same contest.  My friend asked, if that was the case, why had I even decided to take the risk with the Golden Heart last year?
