Welcome to the Ruby-slippered Sisters’ blog.

Today is the day. Can’t you feel the excitement?

The calls from the National RWA are going out and the 2009 Golden Heart® Ruby-slippered sisters are anxiously waiting to cyber-hug our new Golden Heart® sisters, or brothers, and the 2010 Rita finalists.

Please grab a flute of cyber-champagne, introduce yourself and if you have news, spill it.

RWA has a complete listing at the RWA National Site.

Wow, what a party, this is terrific! I’m so excited for all of the finalists!

  2. June says:

Congratulations to all the finalists! To the first-timers and to my Ruby sisters who did it again! WooHoo.

  3. Jenn! says:

Congratulations to all the finalists. And for those of us who didn’t, there is always next year!
I tip my hat to the out-going 2009 Rubies and raise a glass to those who did it again!

  4. Ami says:

Even though I didn’t final, I’ve enjoyed this party and seeing all the finalists check in! Thank you for doing this, RSS. 🙂

I’ve had my chocolate, allowed myself a few minutes of “awww, man” but as far as I’m concerned, next year starts right now. So I’m moving forward. Though I am curious to see my scores.

  5. Gillian says:

Um–just got a phone call. My hands ar shaking so bad I can’t type. I finaled . To Seduce A Proper Rogue. Regency. I’m in shock. I thought it was all over two hours ago.

  6. Jennifer Spiller says:

Gillian! Congratulations! How wonderful. I love your title. Best of luck at Nationals!

  7. Doesn’t this feel just like New Year’s? Still waiting on Contemporary Series over here on the West Coast. Congrats to all Golden Heart finalists and future-finalists!

  8. Darynda Jones says:

    Congrats to Ruby Sister Kimberly!!!

  9. Elise Hayes says:

Say, wasn’t RWA supposed to post all the finalists by 2 p.m. central time? Or are they delaying so that the Contemporary Series and Regency finalists can get the super-fun phone call?

    • Shea Berkley says:

I hope they delay it a bit so they can get their phone calls. It would be a shame for them to miss out on something like that.

    • Darynda Jones says:

IDK, but I am dying to hear all the names! And I’m not even entered. This is just fun!

      • Shea Berkley says:

It is fun. All I’ve done all day is go from the phone to loops and websites. I’m exhausted already. I want to know names too, but I’m practicing patience, which I sorely lack.

  10. Kate Parker says:

The regency folks must be chewing their nails by now. Everything’s up at the RWA site but that category.

Congrats to the class of 2010, including some of my ruby sisters!

  11. Christine Ashworth says:

Yay for all you wonderful ladies who finaled! It was exciting seeing your names on the list. Best of luck and enjoy the ride!

  12. I am just waking up and haven’t had a chance to read through the emails and loops, but I do see some of my Rubies on the GH list! Whoo!!!!!!

  13. I’ll throw this announcment out every so often so it’s not missed.

Remember finalists to join the yahoo group for 2010 Golden Hearts.

Also tomorrow morning we’ll announce the winner of our special prize A Ruby-slippered journal.

  14. Karen says:

Congrats to all the finalists! I’ll be raising a (virtual) glass and cheering you all in Nashville.

  15. Elise Hayes says:

All right, I’m exhausted. It’s been one heck of a day, watching all the news roll in. Congratulations to all the finalists AND non-finalists, for believing in yourselves enough to take the plunge and put your work out there.

  16. Keli Gwyn says:

Congratulations to all those who finaled, and cyber hugs to those who are dealing with disappointment. Thanks for hosting such a fun party!

  17. Diana Quincy says:

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the RWA list of finalists?

  18. Heather Snow says:

Congrats to all my fellow finalists! Can’t wait to meet you!

It was tough waiting for the Regency, wasn’t it? My call came after 2 p.m. and I was feeling pretty naseaus by then!

It was worth the wait, though!!!!

  19. Thank you everyone who stopped by and commented or peeked. The RS sisters were happy to host this call party for the 2010 finalists. The RWA National now has the entire list on their site.

Tomorrow we will be back with more congrats and special advice to our new GH sisters. Also, the winner of our special prize will be announced.

    Sleep well, ladies and gents.

  20. Hello, all, I was invited to come over say hello to the Ruby Slipper gang and share my excitment–RITA finalist in the contemporary series catagory with THE SNOW-KISSED BRIDE.

Man, there are a lot of comments hanging out here. Whoo-hoo!

Congrats to all the finalists and a big ol’ hug to those who are disappointed. I’ve been there, too!!

    Linda Goodnight

  21. Hi, Linda! Fabulous to see you here. Congratulations on your RITA nomination!

  22. Kim Law says:

So sorry I missed so much of the party today, gals! I popped in occasionally to try to keep up, but WOW, what a turn out. I really hated being away from my computer for all this, but everyone in my office finally figured out why I kept “playing” with my phone all day. I was a bit distracted watching all the names being announced!

Congrats to all the finalists! And for those first time GHers, it’ll be DAYS (probably weeks or even months) before that smile leaves your face. Enjoy it all!!!!

  23. Gabrielle says:

Just wanted to say thank you very much for all the congrats, I really, really appreciate them and I’m overwhelmed! Autumn, sorry I didn’t get back to you with the full details, but I got the GH call about 10 minutes after I’d crawled into bed to try to sleep off a cold. I got hit by adrenalin for several hours then crashed again, missing your post.

Congratulations to EVERYONE, with a special shout out to Kylie and Vanessa. Wednesday night, my friend, Robyn, and I were at Starbucks, trying to convince myself a GH call would be fantabulous but not necessary for a successful career, oh no 😉 Then she screamed for me yesterday and I screamed her for this morning, because she’s a finalist in the Regency category. So I believe that makes 4 Australian finalists? Awesome!!

    Rock on! 🙂

  24. Congratulations to all you finalists.

Looks like it’s not going to happen for me this year. Ah well … there’s always next year. (I spent part of my morning — when I wasn’t obsessively staring at the phone, willing it to ring — revamping the intro to the MS I want to enter this fall.)

    • Big hugs, Arlene! There is also next year, but wouldn’t it be great to get nabbed by an editor first? 🙂 Good luck with the ms!

    • Christine Ashworth says:

Arlene, I’m with you in the disappointment. No matter how much we tell ourselves we don’t really expect to final, it’s still a blow when we don’t. Good for you for getting back into the writing! It’ll be tomorrow for me, I’m afraid. Too many doctor appointments.

      Cheers to all!!!

    • Diana Layne says:

Great discipline on the working, Arlene! I shoved my face with ice cream, but tomorrow’s a new day. 🙂

      • I’ve had a chocolate malt, cinnamon roll, four Oreos, a package of Twinkies and bottle of strawberry-flavored milk. I go back to Weight Watchers starting Friday.

    • Elisa Beatty says:

Cheers, ladies!!! You’re all wonderful! And there are many paths to publication….

  25. I am still whirling from the shock of finaling in this year’s GH. I am also pretty much convinced I don’t know what I am doing, but I believe I am cyber-networking at the moment!

I want to thank everyone here for your general happiness and congratulations. This is a wonderful website devoted to GH finalists. I hope to meet some of you this summer in Nashville.
