| Ruby Nickname: | Codename Ruby | | Biography: | Books and music have always been Cynthia’s two greatest passions. Her love of the written word came from countless of hours spent in her second home (the library, of course!), but at the same time, she recognized that music held its own form of language which spoke it’s own timeless, unique, tale chock full of all the essential elements of good fiction. It’s true! Just look at Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, for example. Is there anything that foreshadows foreboding conflict better than those four ominous opening notes?
As Cynthia grew, she set aside those passions to earn her Bachelor’s degree in the chemical sciences (yet another budding interest), but life sidetracked her career with the birth of her first child. Dedicated to her position as stay-at-home-mom extraordinaire, she decided to meld her passions (books, music, chemistry) for a career of a different sort: that of a romantic suspense author.
Cynthia lives in Arizona with her husband and two sons. | | Hometown: | Arizona | | Age: | 35 | | GH Year(s) | 2009 | | Completed Manuscript(s) | 4 | | Genre(s): | Romantic Suspense | | Started Writing: | Found my love of writing in junior high school and never looked back. I had a proud momma moment this weekend as my ten-year-old son attended a Young Author’s Conference at his school. He was one out of six fifth graders that were selected to participate and when I was asked by his teacher if I would help chaperone the students, I was excited to get the opportunity [...]

Kate did a terrific blog post a while back entitled ‘How much sex do you need?’ and it sparked an interesting discussion about sex vs. sexual tension. Most of us agreed that we preferred the build-up of sexual tension in romance novels to the actual “sex scenes”. But since February is the month of romance, [...]

It’s Friday the 13th and you’ve already broken your mirror, spilled the salt at the breakfast table, opened your umbrella inside the house, and had a black cat cross your path on the way to an important meeting on the thirteenth floor. Now that you’re cursed with bad luck for the rest of your life, [...]

((WARNING: I like schmaltz. And sentimentality. And life lessons. I’m about to flood you with all three.))
Sometimes it’s hard to remind myself that everyone’s yellow brick road to publication is different. It’s easy to turn into the green-eyed monster when you see fellow writers selling or getting an agent. Sure, you’re thrilled for them. But, [...]
