Livestreaming RITA and Golden Heart Announcement Day!!

LET THE ANNOUNCEMENTS BEGIN…

red balloonsWow, the big day is here again!! We’re here to cheer, commiserate, celebrate, hold hands with other nervous hopefuls, give you good company to gnaw your fingernails with, or whatever it is you’re needing today.

As each of the Rubies can testify, the next few hours are going to change some lives.

But we also know that life is good…NO MATTER WHAT happens today.

IT’S TIME TO START THE LIVE BLOGGING NOW!! As the news rolls in this morning, we’ll be continually updating our list of finalists from all available sources. Please keep your ears to the ground and chime in in the comments as you hear anything new!! And be here to congratulate new finalists who stop by!!

Good luck to all who entered and thank you to all for coming to celebrate with us.

FOR THE FINALISTS: If RWA® has notified you that you’re a finalist, please post your news in the comments below, and include the following info:

The word FINALIST in all caps / your CATEGORY also in all caps. Also, please give us your book title and the name you want listed if you’re writing under a pseudonym.

If you’re a RITA finalist, please also include the publisher and your editor’s name, if any. (Let us know if you’re Indie!)

Golden Heart finalists: as soon as an email loop is formed, please share the info with us so we can help more finalists find it!! We’ve had several people in the past few years who’ve found it that way.

Tomorrow on the Ruby blog, we’ll be welcoming the brand-new Golden Heart Class of 2017!!! (And inviting as many of you as possible to be interviewed or to guest blog on the Ruby Blog this spring!)

And for those who don’t final today, join us Thursday for hugs and support and inspiration for next year (plus lots of great prizes, like chocolates and gift cards and helpful, supportive writing critiques).

      • This is a tweet I just saw from Jennifer Probst:
OMG. Kristan Higgins just called me. That would be enough in itself but she just informed me Searching for Disaster and Searching for Mine are RITA nominees. And yeah, I cried. And screamed in her ear. Now I’m in shock… #RITAGH

I don’t know what categories though. Congrats, Jennifer!

SOMETIMES YOU NEED A SEXY SCOT – Golden Heart Finalist in Contemporary Single Title!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL! I was very hesitant to toss my hat back in the ring but my Mermaid sisters (GH class of ’16) convinced me it was worth it and I’m so glad I did! For one, now I don’t feel so much like that first final was a fluke, and two, Logan & Cassie get to have a second chance for an “HEA” 😉

And for those who did not get a call – this is all so subjective and luck very much plays a part – I judged a YA I thought was FABULOUS and am still waiting to see it show up on the finalist list. If it doesn’t I want to hug that author and tell him/her what an amazing writer s/he is!

Hugs to those of you who submitted, but didn’t final (I’ve been there, and I suggest both wine and chocolate 🙂

And congrats to those of you who finaled–enjoy the next few months and the build-up to nationals!
